High Tea– it’s a quintessential experience extending from the royalties of the mid 1800’s that is still one of the most enjoyed times between friends. Right here in Chicago, we have one of the most respected high tea rooms, Palm Court at the Drake. I recently had the pleasure to pause my day and spend an hour and half under the fountain with my long time friend, Kristine. I must give her credit, it was actually her idea to book this afternoon tea time…and it was so lovely!
I sipped on a traditional English Breakfast tea and enjoyed every last bit of the servings! My favorite finger sandwich selection included the Cucumber & Tomato on White Bread and the Coronation Chicken with Golden Sultanas. The English Scones were made to a flaky perfection, especially dressed in the whipped butter and berry jam. To top it all off, a harpist filled the room with beautiful music. It made for an afternoon of conversation, laughs, and relaxation.
While I always enjoy happy hours in Chicago and rooftops, setting aside time for tea is going to be on my list for now on.
